We write today to share some community happenings, announcements, and good wishes for the upcoming holiday break. We’ve had a busy few months leading to some very exciting developments for the school community and beyond.

We made it to the final month of 2023. Kudos to you all! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their baking skills for the pie fundraiser and the bake sale.

There are so many ways to get involved this month, from bake sales to chorus to mindfulness! Also, please note that our next PTA general meeting is Tuesday, November 21nd at 8:20 a.m. in the Health Studio, room 124. We hope to see you there!

The third week of October is bringing us gorgeous fall weather and another PTA meeting. Plus, the BNS community just celebrated at Unity Fest this weekend!

The BNS Farm Stand starts October 18 from 2pm-5pm.

The Arts Committee is a group of parent volunteers devoted to supporting arts enrichment beyond the school curriculum, through PTA-led workshops and other programming.

Please join us for the 15th Annual PTA Fun Run this year on Sat., October 28th at 10am in Prospect Park (race bib pickup and pre-race fun starts at 9am). The PTA Fun Run is a 3.3 mile run/walk/scoot around the Prospect Park loop in Brooklyn, and is an energizing community-building event with live music, prizes, opportunities to connect with other schools and PTAs, and fundraise for our schools!

BNS classrooms are full of activity and the building is buzzing with energy! From fun games to learning the names of their classmates and getting to know each other, to finding their way to the bathroom and exploring the library and the Big Yard, students are growing more comfortable in their school.

This is now happening October 14.

Join BNS and BCS for our joint school festival on Saturday, September 30! This is a great time for all. Join in the school yard for face painting, crafts, a clothing swap, merch sale, robot sightings, dance parties, games and food. Save the date…more details to come.

The 2023 BNS/BCS FALL BOOK FAIR is scheduled to be in the HEALTH STUDIO, ROOM 124, from 8:10 am – 4:00 pm, from MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, to THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21. There will be Special Hours at the 2023 BNS/BCS FALL BOOK FAIR from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19.

Welcome to the 2023–2024 school year at BNS! We hope you and your family have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to come together for an amazing year of learning and community. The start of school brings new teachers, new classrooms, and of course, new friends.

This is our first installment in Letters from Leadership! In Letters from Leadership, we will continue to focus on life at BNS through the eyes of our children and educators - moments of joy, success, challenge, inquiry, sustainability, social justice, social emotional and physical health.

Upcoming Summer play dates for new PreK and Kindergarten families to get to know our BNS community - all new and returning families from all grades welcome!
